Project Profile

Strategic Infrastructure Works

The Meridian Water Strategic Infrastructure Works (SIW) will unlock further development in Meridian Water. Supported by £195 million of government funding, the infrastructure program is pivotal to the project's success in bringing forward further development plots, improving connectivity and creating high quality public realm.

Taylor Woodrow has been appointed by Enfield Council to deliver the infrastructure works. They are constructing new roads, four bridges, footpaths, cycle links, transport improvements, and two new parks: all for the benefit of the local Edmonton community.

The two parks – Edmonton Marshes and Brooks Park – demonstrate Enfield Council’s commitment to creating inclusive, cleaner, and greener spaces in the borough. The parks include new cycle links promoting active travel across Meridian Water.

The Works

Edmonton Marshes

This 6.4 hectare park will improve accessibility to the Lee Valley Regional Park, linking west of the River Lea to the heart of the communities at Meridian Water. This new green space will also provide the amenity space for the thousands of new homes. Creating cleaner and greener spaces for the Edmonton community.

Brooks Park and River Naturalisation

This 2-hectare expanse is centred around the naturalisation of Pymmes Brook. Brooks Park will incorporate spaces for riverside walks, natural play spaces, and improved ecological habitats.

New streets, roads and bridges

Four new bridges and attractive streets will connect all the banks in Meridian Water which is currently separated by the River Lee, Pymmes, and Salmon Brooks. The works include dedicated pedestrian-only bridges as well as a central spine road with various new branch roads. This will provide new bus routes through Meridian Water, and allow for smooth travel for walking, cycling, and driving.

Groundworks and sustainable drainage

Remediation, new utility networks and ground preparation will allow for the future building of thousands of new homes. Ground works will also include the creation of rain gardens. The re-routing and naturalisation of the rivers that run through Meridian Water will help to alleviate heavy rain spells and protect neighbouring properties.
