Meridian Water is Enfield Council’s £6bn 25-year regeneration project which will create 10,000 homes including 4,000 affordable homes, to help to ease the London housing crisis and provide homes for local people in Enfield.
At the end of 2019, Enfield Council signed a Development Agreement with Vistry Partnerships to deliver Meridian One, the first phase of the £6 billion Meridian Water development, the development will deliver a mixed-use development of approximately 950 homes (subject to planning permission), as well as over 2,300 square metres of leisure, retail, employment and community spaces. The scheme will also deliver new public open spaces and improve connections between Meridian Water Station and Upper Edmonton
An Outline planning permission for 725 homes is already in place and a Reserved Matters Application has been submitted by Vistry Partnerships and approved by the Council for the first 300 homes in May 2021.
To increase the number of homes and achieve 50% affordable housing, a new full planning application for the remaining 650+ homes and non-residential spaces will be submitted by Vistry Partnerships towards the end of 2021.
Construction works commended in August 2021 for the first homes at Meridian Water. The first completion of these new Council homes will be in 2022. The overall development will be constructed in phases from 2021 with the last completions expected in 2026.
