The second round of The Community Chest is offering £300,000 in funding for projects in Edmonton.

People can apply for a share of the funding from 1 April to 27 May 2025 to deliver projects in Edmonton that will benefit the community.

There are small and large grant sizes to apply for. Successful small grants will be awarded up to £10,000 and large grant applications will fund projects between £10,000 and £60,000.

Application – Overview

The purpose of this grant is to support not-for-profit groups or organisations to deliver a community benefit in one or all three of the Edmonton Wards (Lower Edmonton, Upper Edmonton, Edmonton Green).  This benefit should fall within the following categories:

  • Improve a physical area within a community
  • Improve an opportunity for local people i.e. around employment
  • Improve life chances for young people
  • Address health inequalities

There are two types of applications:

  • Small Grant of up to £10,000
  • Large Grant of between £10,000 and £60,000

To be eligible for a grant, applicants need to:

  • Complete an application form including clear details of what the funds will be used for
  • Provide supporting evidence
    • Group Terms of reference / Constitution / Annual report.
    • Company bank account information (funds will only be released to a company account).
    • Safeguarding documentation if the request relates to working with young people.

The application and all supporting documentation need to be submitted online using the webform link below by 27 May 2025.  Late applications will not be accepted.

The assessment process will take place across June and July, all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the end of August 2025. Please note that funding is limited and every application will be considered on its individual merits.  Successful applicants may not receive the full amount requested so please think about how you will complete your project if you do not receive the full amount.

Where bids are successful, applicants will need to keep us informed about the progress of their project once the funding has been made available. Successful bids will be published by the Council with projects tracked through their lifespan and further promotion and Public Relations undertaken. A monitoring and reporting schedule will be set out in full in the grant agreement for successful applicants.

Grant payments will be made as follows:

  • Three quarters on the signing of a legally binding grant contract agreement
  • Final quarter on receipt of evidence of expenditure, project delivery and monitoring visit at the end of the project.
  • All work must have been completed and payments made by the end of March 2026.

All successful applicants will be required to promote the project and acknowledge the Council’s funding. This must be included in the promotion of their project and their work including photos or physical outputs.

There is no appeal process and the decision of the panel is final.

Below is a list of example projects that could be considered.  Please do not feel constrained to this list, it is just to help you when considering your project.

  • Improve a physical area within a community.
    • Addressing security and crime: improving the look and feel of local streets & the public realm or adapting an area to consider climate change.
  • Improve an opportunity for local people particularly around employment.
    • Addressing equality, diversity and inclusion: considering projects that assist with  employment and skills issues, language barriers, upskilling and retraining programmes,
  • Improve life chances for young people.
    • After school and homework clubs, work experience and placements, paid internships, enhanced and diversified education provision.
  • Address health inequalities.
    • Extended health and wellbeing provision, healthy eating classes, exercise classes, activities for elderly residents, young mothers etc.
